I read slowly again Maulana Wahiduddin Khan's words, commenting on a scripture in the Quran, Al-Baqarah 1.38-39, wherein God informs of divine guidance through signs. These signs are present for us to interpret or not. Our futures are shaped by how we read or fail to read the signs.
God does not become plainly visible in this world; He reveals Himself through His signs, thereby testing his creatures. It is only those who can interpret His signs who will discover God Himself.
Hence, I appreciated we are each a sign. We, even in our being spirit, point beyond ourselves to our Origin. Our presences indicate Spirit; we are light shadows of the Shadowless Light. Absolute adoration and recognition arise from the recognition of our belonging in and to the Absolute. In our diversity, we and how we see this Absolute are diverse. We follow each other, when we see truly each other, to God, or "the Beloved, the Heart," as I conclude below. When I truly see you, I see the light that reflects the one Light, the source of each and all lights. When I speak your Name, I speak the Name.
initially fleeting encounters
soul-with-soul
then living as the soul
we meet ourself
everywhere
see
we're not
many bodies
with many souls
we're one soul
with many bodies
realizing this
not as an idea
knowing this is who you are
means knowing this is
who everyone is
when connecting soul-with-soul
more than an emotional experience
we're spirits communing silently, unseen
spontaneously meeting as persons
in the single spirit, we are
in the Beloved, the Heart
